A retired United States Navy Captain, his many assignments included Senior Nurse Executive and the Director for Patient Services, Naval Hospital Beaufort, SC, 2001 – 2003. From 1996 to 2001 Ron was the Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Assistant Department Head for Administration, Anaesthesia Department, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA where he founded and personally developed the Medical Center’s Complementary Care Clinic. This experience led to consulting positions with other medical centers such as Kaiser Permeate, Portland, Oregon, Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, NC and Naval Hospital, Beaufort, SC.
While at Portsmouth, Ron served on the Clinical Competency Committee for the Naval School of Health Sciences Nurse Anesthesia Program. He was the representative for Licensed Independent Practitioners on the Naval Medical Center’s Executive Committee for Medical Staff. He was granted the title of approved consultant by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and is a Certified Hypnosis Instructor of the National Guild of Hypnotists and the American Board of Hypnotherapy. He served on the Editorial Board for CRNA: The Clinical Forum for Nurse Anaesthetists and served as President of the Virginia Association of Nurse Anaesthetists. He later served as the Program Chairman of the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He is currently President Elect, Region 2 of the Tennessee Nurses Association and Director District # 5 of the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Ron lectures extensively to medical and nursing organizations on Hypnosis, Stress Management, Anesthesia, HIV/AIDS, and Bioterrorism. He is frequent faculty to Clemson University’s Continuing Nurse Education Conferences, Gatlinburg, the Nurse Anesthesiology Faculty Association, Frank Moya, CRNA Annual Review Course, and the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing He has lectured to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists National Conference and is presenting a four-hour lecture on anesthesia and hypnosis at the 2004 conference in Seattle. In addition, he has lectured on anesthesia and hypnosis to the following state anesthesia associations: Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Idaho, Texas, Wisconsin, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, and North Carolina. Ron Eslinger, Captain USN Nurse Corps Retired. His positions included Chief CRNA and Assistant Department Head. He was Assistant Officer and Chief Nurse on the Navy Hospital Ship USNS Mercy. He also served as Officer-in-Charge Branch Medical Clinic, Parris Island, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Director of Patient Services and Senior Executive Nurse Beaufort Navy Hospital.
Ron was instrumental in the development of the IV Conscious Sedation Certification Training for five Navy Hospitals. He is currently owner of Healthy Visions Wellness Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
