Minnesota nursing CE: what the board asks for
Minnesota RNs complete 24 contact hours and LPNs 12 in each 24-month period. The rule names no approving body; a course qualifies if it meets the rule's criteria.
Who may approve your CE
What Minnesota’s rule says
“Evidence of written learning objectives is not required when the continuing education activity has been approved by another health licensing board or health-related professional association.”

What to know in Minnesota
- Approval by another health licensing board waives only the written-objectives evidence. You still need records of the instructor's qualifications, the hours, the dates, the title and your completion.
- Minnesota counts a contact hour as 60 minutes, so a 50-minute hour counts for less.
- You file a CE report with your renewal.

What we will not tell you
We will not tell you that a course satisfies your Minnesota requirement. Your board decides that, and an audit lands on your license, not on us.
What we can do is show you the rule, quoted or cited, and linked, and tell you plainly where our courses stand. Each of our RN & LPN course pages states the continuing-education approval that course carries, and that statement applies only to the course it appears on.
If anything here is unclear for your situation, ask your board before you enroll. Keep every certificate and the course description; the description is what shows an auditor what the course covered.
