Florida nursing CE: what the board asks for
Florida nurses complete 24 contact hours each biennium. Florida accepts offerings approved by a state organization empowered to accredit nursing CE for the 16 general hours, but not for its mandatory courses.

What Florida’s rule says
“All licensees may be awarded contact hours for attendance at offerings that are approved by a state or national organizations empowered to accredit nursing continuing education.”

What to know in Florida
- Only the 16 general hours can come from a course approved by another state's board. Florida's mandatory courses (medical errors, Florida laws and rules, recognizing impairment, domestic violence) need a Florida-approved provider; the 2-hour human trafficking course is the exception.
- Florida counts a contact hour as 60 minutes, so a 50-minute hour counts for less.
- Hours from providers outside Florida are not reported to CE Broker for you. You enter them yourself before you renew.

What we will not tell you
We will not tell you that a course satisfies your Florida requirement. Your board decides that, and an audit lands on your license, not on us.
What we can do is show you the rule, quoted or cited, and linked, and tell you plainly where our courses stand. Each of our RN & LPN course pages states the continuing-education approval that course carries, and that statement applies only to the course it appears on.
If anything here is unclear for your situation, ask your board before you enroll. Keep every certificate and the course description; the description is what shows an auditor what the course covered.
